Jerry Stalnaker Obituary, Death – On Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the age of 88, Jerry Mae Stalnaker-Groff Wandling, who resided in Heaters, West Virginia, passed away unexpectedly at United Hospital Center. She was born in Braxton County, West Virginia, on January 24, 1935. Her parents, the late William “Bill” Stalnaker and Arlene “Arlie” Golden Stalnaker, both passed away before her birth. Her father had already passed away before she was being born. Her devoted husband, Glenneth “Curley” Wandling, as well as her brothers Joe and Jack Stalnaker, and her first husband, Harley T. “Jiggs” Groff, all passed away before her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the husband she had been deeply committed to. Jerry Mae devoured newspapers like they were his last meal. She was a keen fan of university athletics, especially football at West Virginia University and the University of Alabama. Her favorite teams were the Alabama Crimson Tide and the West Virginia Mountaineers. She had a huge vegetable garden that she tended in her earlier years and preserved the harvest in jars until she was unable to continue doing so for various reasons. Taking care of her property was something that offered her a lot of delight.

Jerry Mae used to take great delight in the habit of sitting on the front porch and watching the many animals that frequented the neighborhood.
Getting together with her loved ones and close friends was one of her most beloved activities. In her everyday life, she proclaimed her faith as Christianity. Everyone would miss her greatly because she was a lovely wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She also had great grandchildren. Everyone will experience profound loss with her passing.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Dale Groff, of Heaters, WV; daughter, Nobie Holley-Dean (Craig) of Burnsville, WV; stepdaughter, Connie Byus (Ron) and their family of Mason County, WV; two special grandchildren, Justin Groff (Samantha) of Heaters, WV and Shealyn Holley (Matt) of Columbus, Ohio; great grandchildren, Aria, Auron, and Arley Fincham, and Ryleigh Groff. Around six in the evening, the family will begin to meet and greet their guests.
