Herbert Spengler Obituary, Death – Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Herbert McInturff “Mac” Spengler, who passed away on November 12, 2023, at the age of 94 at the John Manchin Senior Assisted Living Facility in Farmington, West Virginia. Herbert McInturff “Mac” Spengler was a resident of Mannington, West Virginia. He was the eldest child of Herbert and Dorothy Spengler, and he was the first to be born on February 17, 1929 in Glovers Gap, West Virginia.
Mac’s parents and an infant sister named Rebecca all away before him, and his wife of 65 years, Jeanne, also died before him. Mac is survived by his two sons, Mitchell Spengler (who is married to Karen) and Kelly Spengler, as well as his five grandchildren, Susan, Laura, Mac, Douglas, and Rebecca, and his two “great-granddogs.”
Mac graduated from Mannington High School in 1947 and went on to serve in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Class of 1947. The position of District Superintendent for CNG Transmission was held by Mac till his retirement. In earlier times, he found satisfaction in working on “tube TVs” and clocks, and he had a deep interest in HO miniature railroads. He began construction on their home in the early 1960s and has maintained his skill as a woodworker over the years.
The family would like to convey their gratitude to the staff of the John Manchin Assisted Living Facility for the care and assistance that was provided to Mac while he was a resident there. On Sunday, November 19, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, the Masters Funeral Home located at 209 Main Street in Mannington, West Virginia will be open to accept friends and family. There will be a burial in Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery following the private funeral service that will be held for the family.
